Investing in the future: our first impact report

Launched on 24 February 2010, The Social Investment Business’s first impact report shows that the demand for social investment is extremely high.

The report – Investing in the future – shows that in the last year, The Social Investment Business has received over 3,000 applications for investment worth more than £500million, through the government funds it manages.

Support from The Office of the Third Sector’s Futurebuilders England Fund has helped third sector organisations win over £46million worth of public sector contracts and, in the past year, has enabled unbankable projects to win over 230 public service contracts.

The report also notes that The Social Investment Business has attracted matched funding investment from commercial banks that would have otherwise not have invested in the sector, bringing millions of pounds of additional finance through co-funding deals.

The case for social investment is clear.
