The Social Investment Business appoints Jonathan Jenkins as new CEO

The Social Investment Business has appointed Jonathan Jenkins as its new CEO.
As the largest social investor in the UK, The Social Investment Business works to support social enterprises, charities and voluntary organisations to become stronger and more financially sustainable so they can do more of what they do best – helping the most vulnerable in our society. As well as offering social finance the Social Investment Business provides business support and champions the involvement of these organisations in public service delivery.
Sir Stephen Bubb, Chair of The Social Investment Business said, “The establishment of Big Society Capital shows more than ever that the social investment market is changing and expanding. The Social Investment Business is very keen to develop new products and grow our offer to the sector and I am delighted to welcome Jonathan Jenkins as CEO. Jonathan Jenkins said, “This is a really exciting time to be joining The Social Investment Business, with where the market is going there are lots of opportunities in the social investment market and The Social Investment Business is ideally placed to develop these both on its own and in partnership. Jonathan will join the organisation on Monday 26th September, taking over from Jonathan Lewis who left in July.

1. Jonathan Jenkins has over 15 years’ experience in raising finance for small and medium projects from his City career, which included time at a UK merchant bank, and culminated in his role as managing director of Plus Markets, a stock exchange created by his family to enable access to capital for small companies. Jonathan joined UnLtd in September 2008 as Director of Ventures, and is currently on secondment to the Big Lottery and NESTA working on the Big Society Bank. Jonathan is on various advisory panels looking at social finance and also holds various charity trustee appointments such as Young Enterprise and Bright Charity.
2. Financial Director Darren Garner is currently the Acting Chief Executive at The Social Investment Business. Jonathan Lewis left the organisation after 3 years to join health social enterprise Bromley Health.
