An Interview With...Nick Temple

‘An Interview with... Nick Temple’:  the co-founder of POPse aims to provide recommendations on the Big Society Bank and NHS spin outs and reveals he prefers blogging to twitter

13 June 2011

Nick Temple, co-founder of POPse, the social enterprise think tank that ‘popped up’ for a week in May, tells how it aims to advance the social enterprise debate, particularly around the Big Society Bank, social impact and NHS spin outs in the latest edition of “An Interview With…” the monthly podcast series by The Social Investment Business.

Temple talks about the experience of setting up the think tank, and how it not only brought together individuals from across different organisations but also provided regeneration to its local area - by using a disused Subway franchise - and injected a “fresh burst of thinking” to the sector.  Temple also discusses how he believes social enterprises need to take more risks in their communications strategies and talks of the need to build credibility in order to have more impact on the wider public.

A freelance communications expert, Temple contemplates the opportunities for communicating the Big Society vision and says he believes the concept will ultimately be judged on what people do rather than what it is called. Finally, Temple reveals a preference for blogging over tweeting in the quick fire quiz.
